Kathy Perales
American Artist

The artist inside was always there; striving to come out even while Kathy Perales taught fourth grade and especially when teaching art to 750 elementary students. Now retired from public school teaching, she can devote more time to painting. She says, "At this time in my art journey there are no deep, dark, thought provoking inner meanings here. Nope, I want my work to bring a smile to the viewer." Katherine Kenagy Perales has been fascinated with art all of her life. She studied education and art at Southwest Texas and while teaching school, was awarded a Masters of Education with a minor in Art from UTSA. She is an artist, an art educator and a teacher . Kathy is a member and a past President of the Canyon Lake Art Guild, a member and past President of the New Braunfels Art League and a member of San Antonio Art Education Association. She has studied with Vie Dunn-Harr, Terry Madden and with Jeannette McDougall in Auvillar, France. She has recently studied with Don Ward, Jill Carver, Richard Drayton, Ron Rencher and Qiang Huang. She feels that she is blessed to be around such creative forces. Her art can be found in private collections from Washington to Florida and all over Texas. Her work is also in the permanent collection of the Oil Patch Museum in Luling, Texas. Her art is displayed at the Art Cottage, New Braunfels, Texas and she is represented by Canyon Lake Art Guild and New Braunfels Art League. Kathy says, "The best part of my painting experience is seeing what the paint wants to do and what the painting wants to become. Making someone smile warms my heart and keeps me painting." .
