Artist’s Statement
After many years of working as an educator in the public school systems (mostly teaching science or math), as well as starting business enterprises, such as Whimsical Walls (murals), I settled in to the world of Plein Air painting.   I have to laugh when I think back , as I joined these types of painting groups due to the fact that I didn’t have room to set up an easel in my own home, in Austin, TX, where we were raising three lovely children and their oodles of friends and relatives.  As a result, I quickly adhered to this style of painting where you could simply set up outdoors.  It required no studio‚Ķas Nature became my studio; however, it was not all that simple as your goal becomes “to chase the light,”  i.e., to capture a scene before you lose the lights and shadows that you started with.   I took many workshops and classes from Master Artists and traveled to some wonderful places to totally immerse in this style of painting.

Although, I still go on Plein Air trips and still enjoy getting close and personal with nature , I have found a new stage in my art career by joining with three friends to found the Art Cottage, a gallery and working studio here in New Braunfels, TX.  We have created a truly magical place where we can display our work as well as each have an easel set up to work while guests come and go.  I feel truly blessed to finally have this place where I can continue to use the talent that God bestowed upon me, while I also help others learn how to unearth their talent, by teaching classes.  Come by and watch us work.
